“I have never met a person whose greatest need was anything other than real, unconditional love. You can find it in a simple act of kindness toward someone who needs help. There is no mistaking love. You feel it in your heart. It is the common fiber of life, the flame that heals our soul, energizes our spirit and supplies passion to our lives. It is our connection to God and to each other.” Elisabeth Kubler Ross
A simple act of kindness manifests in different ways. It is a result of generosity of the heart and the spirit. It comes from a place of love, and it is a gift. The gift of giving has no ego. Having an ulterior motive or looking for something in return, is manipulation.
Acts of kindness come in different forms.
When those who have money give it to those who haven’t, with no strings attached, it is an inspiring gift .
A compliment to a friend or a kind word spoken to a passing stranger makes all the difference.
A warm smile for no reason helps someone who is feeling down.
A sign of appreciation and gratitude or a loving gesture spontaneously given makes someone’s day.
A thank you for someone’s efforts or a genuine hug is uplifting.
And when people whose lives we’ve touched take this experience and are empowered to do the same for others, we create a chain of empowerment that travels far and wide and we may never know the results.
Pay It Forward originally began as a work of fiction and continues now on a global scale.
The idea is for one person to do three acts of kindness and instead of paying it back, they pay it forward to three other people, who in turn do the same for three more people, reaching a multitude. What an opportunity to express love.
When our intention is honorable and our gesture is real, everyone wins.
Good deeds are a direct cause of unconditional love for the giver as well as the receiver. Whether it is done anonymously or with someone’s knowledge, it is an expression of our own magnificence.
“I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness or abilities that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.” William Penn
