The path to joy is simple, though we find so many complicated detours along the way. Because I was told love and joy was something I had to work for, I was constantly searching outside of myself to find it and when I did, it was always so fleeting. No person and no place sustained me for more than a moment in time. I found joy to be elusive.
Joy is the beneficiary of the state of Being in unconditional Love. It comes from our hearts, our inner Soul, the source inside us that knows how magnificent we are. It’s where true love and Self are unconditionally one. It’s here where joy is the center of our Being and balance is our natural state. When we’re in balance it’s authentic and nothing can come between us and our joy.
To experience this joyful state of Being, I needed to be willing to open my mind to unlimited possibilities. I always believed that joy was just another feeling and I had to do or have something to experience it. When I was willing to change my point of view, the way my mind had been trained to think, I opened myself to the experience of my own magnificence and a great spiritual change took place in my life. The opportunities for choosing this experience were limitless and unending. I literally found joy when I allowed myself to fall unconditionally in love with my authentic Self. Then I was able to discover it in others.
Balance creates equilibrium in which we can reach a level state of mind. When we practice this on a daily basis, we continue to choose a state of Being that is so joyful, our hearts are filled with so much love, it radiates out to everyone that appears in our Universe.
And the big secret is, there’s no place we have to go to get it, we’re already there. When we become aware and trust our Selves, all we have to do is choose to be consciously present in love right now, in this moment.
Every time my mind becomes critical and judges, that experience alone keeps me from living a balanced life. We each have the power to stop criticizing right now, by surrendering to the moment and choose love over fear, Self appreciation over self deprecation. When I accept everything about myself as “what’s so” with no exclusion, I have no reason to pretend, deny or avoid those feelings other’s consider bad, wrong or negative. When I’m not thinking that any one thing is good, right and positive or better than something else, I know I’m in balance.
When we recognize the gifts we’re blessed with and acknowledge our own magnificence and inner beauty and as long as we’re willing to accept it as “what’s so” with no attachment it will not be misinterpreted as conceit, vanity or ego. We need to be willing to shout it into the Universe and not meekly hold onto it as so many of us were taught to do. This awareness of our Selves comes from knowing our own Worth and how deserving we are to experience this love of Self so we can continue to choose it all the time for no reason.
When we surrender and accept ourselves in relation to our circumstances and trust ourselves not to be ruled by our ego, our natural instinct is to let go and forgive so we can stay balanced and open to living a life filled with unconditional love. Once I decided to surrender, my natural desire is to share it with everyone around me. When I remember the truth of who I am, my heart opens wide and love is present for everyone else to appreciate and accept. Then my gratitude opens the door to abundance for my true desires to be fulfilled.
Each time we allow ourselves to surrender to our fear and let go of depressing thoughts and choose love, we bring ourselves closer to our heart’s desire that guides us to a joyous moment. We each have the option to choose life the way we desire it to be. We need to be willing. Everything that was bestowed upon us in this lifetime has prepared us to live a balanced life.
As Euripides taught way back in the day:
“The best and safest thing is to keep a balance in your life,
acknowledge the great powers around us and in us. If you can
do that, and live that way, you are really a wise man.
For me, it’s like living the life of a samurai, walking across the edge of a sword without cutting my feet. Then I know I’m truly in balance.
As I trust my Self and practice choosing to be present, my life is more fulfilled and I have the experience of living in a more balanced state of Being. It’s another way I live a magical life.
