Breathing

The very first thing we do after we are born is breath and take oxygen into our lungs and our brain.

Breathing is our life force, yet mostly we are unaware of how we take air into our lungs, brain and circulatory system. When we change the patterns of our normal breathing we change our conscious awareness. Breathing too quickly, too long or too short and not enough can cause us to lose consciousness altogether.

When we become conscious of our breathing, we can use it as a technique for transformation and spiritual growth.

Whenever I feel the least bit out of sorts, stressed or uncomfortable, the very first thing I do is stop and be aware of my breathing. I take a long breath in through my nose, hold it and then slowly let it out through my mouth. I repeat the process until I begin to feel calm, relaxed and back to my true experience of Self.

I can close my eyes and be consciously aware of breathing, concentrating on each breath, its intake and outgo and when I open my eyes, I see a different view of all that surrounds me. Everything is more vivid, energetic, colorful, poignant and meaningful.

I’ve used this technique to calm me down in different traumatic and life threatening situations, one of which nearly caused the death of myself and another human being.
Deep breathing brought me out of shock into the moment and back to my Self in an amazingly short period of time.

When we experience healthy breathing, we are more alive and in touch with our own magnificence.
Breathing deep inside
(from: Best Loved Poems Network)

Breathing deep inside
Breathing deep outside
Outside into reality
To be a victim of morality
On the wonderings of the soul
Leave the shackles of our mortal selves
And escape into the wilderness
And become a nightlife creature

Free to be what you want to be
Kiss the stars and steal a pocket full
And when you want to wish a wish
Set one free while the full moon blooms

Arise to a sweet and golden dawn
Watch the beauty of a red rose grow
And when it blooms, smell its sweet aroma
Leaving your skin stained with beauty

Breathing deep inside
Breathing deep outside
Dreamless, sleepless
Open your eyes to a beautiful day
